Summary
While Blockchain is likely best known in the context of digital currencies, the technology’s ability to enable digital collaboration may have a profound impact on general business processes, including management of risk. At our upcoming flagship event, open to the general public, the Swiss Risk Association will host Gerhard Lohman, CFO of Reinsurance, Swiss Re and Chairman of the B3i insurance exchange, and Lars Henneberg, Head of Risk Management at the logistic and transportation giant A.P. Møller-Maersk, who will speak about their experience building two of the most prominent blockchain risk management applications to date.
B3i provides insurance solutions on a blockchain platform, with the goal of making insurance more relevant, accessible and affordable for the market. The founding shareholders of B3i include many of the world’s largest insurers and reinsurers. Insurwave, built by a joint venture between EY and Guardtime, will be leveraged by A.P. Møller-Maersk to support more than half a million automated ledger transactions and help manage risk for approximately 1,000 commercial vessels in the first year. By connecting participants in a secure, private network with an accurate, immutable audit trail and services to execute processes, the platform establishes a first of its kind digital insurance value chain.
Finally, Paul Embrechts Professor Emeritus of the ETH Zurich, will present the winner of the 2018 Swiss Risk Award.
At the conclusion of the event at 20:00, Swiss Risk Association Board and its sponsors invite the participants to an apéro.
