Summary

In this event, we will explore the analytics and technologies behind the Climate Stress Testing Models used in estimating the Physical and Transitional risks relating to climate scenarios. Sebastian Glink, representing CLIMADA Technologies will introduce their modeling experience on both acute and chronic hazards such as Tropical Cyclones, River Flood, Heat, Drought, Wildfire, Sea Level Rise and European winter storms. Joseph Noss, representing WTW will introduce their new measure of climate transition risk – Climate Transition Value-at-Risk (CTVaR) – that estimates the effect of climate transition on the value of assets and businesses.

Sebastian Glink is founder and CEO of CLIMADA Technologies
Sebastian has a background in Meteorology, Geophysics, Business Intelligence & Big Data Analytics; and more than 10 years of experience in building scalable technology solutions in insurance, reinsurance and retail industry. Weather & Climate was always his passion. CLIMADA Tech provides him the opportunity to quantify the impact of climate change and help organizations to become more resilient.

Joseph (Joe) Noss is a Senior Director in WTW’s Climate and Resilience Hub (CRH). He heads WTW’s engagement with financial institutions – including banks, insurers and asset managers – to support the transition to a resilient, net zero financial system. A senior industry figure, Joe brings with him over 15 years’ of financial sector experience. Before joining WTW, he worked at the G20 Financial Stability Board (FSB) in Basel, where he led on climate financial regulation for the banking, investment and insurance sectors. Joe played a key role in coordinating the FSB Climate Roadmap, which was published in July 2021 and will shape global climate policy and its implementation over the next five years. Prior to his time at the FSB, Joe spent over a decade at the Bank of England where he led work to analyse and develop policy across a variety of financial markets and institutions, including capital markets, asset management and insurance industries.
