Jean-Daniel Ruch, Ambassador of Switzerland
After studying International Relations and International Security in Geneva, Jean-Daniel Ruch joined the Swiss Ministry of Defense in 1988 and entered the diplomatic service in 1992. In the 1990s, he worked for the OSCE before moving to Belgrade in 2000. From 2003 to 2007, he served as political advisor to the Prosecutor of the UN War Crimes Tribunal for Yugoslavia Carla Del Ponte. After working on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as Special Envoy for the Middle East (2008-2012), he became Swiss Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro (2012), Israel (2016), and Türkiye (2021-2023). He is now chairing the Geneva Center of Neutrality, giving lectures and writing columns.
