Summary

In our first event on ‘Quantifying Cyber Risk’ on 22 May we explored which concepts allow us to nail down those elusive cyber risks and quantify them internally. Now, we go a step further.

  •  Have you ever wondered how insurance companies assess and quantify (i.e. price) the risks?
  • How they decide which applicant to insure and which not?
  • Or how technology can help quantify cyber risks from the outside?

In this event we will have expert inputs from Zurich’s Cyber Risk Engineer Thomas Schnitzer, from Swiss Re’s senior cyber actuary Evgenia Ageeva, and from Guidewire’s Cyber Data Specialist Ian Bird to discuss how a company’s cyber posture is viewed from the outside and what risk managers need to think about when applying for cyber insurance.

Presenters

  • Thomas Schnitzer, Cyber Risk Engineer at Zurich Insurance.
Thomas started his career as Information Security Consultant before he joined the (re)insurance industry in 2013. He worked in the Swiss Re internal IT department as business and security analyst before he joined the cyber reinsurance team in 2017. Since 2022 he works as a cyber risk engineer at Zurich insurance. He holds a master’s degree in Business Information Systems and CISSP, CISM, CISA and CEH certifications.
  • Ian Bird, Analytics Sales Consulting Guidewire
Ian leads the Analytics Sales Consulting Team for Europe, assisting Guidewire customers with their cyber risk management as well as working to operationalize analytics and modeling across other lines of business. Ian joined Cyence in 2015, leading the market adoption of Cyence in the London and European markets. Cyence was acquired by Guidewire late 2017.
A regular speaker and panelist at various cyber P&C insurance related events, Ian likes to share stories and perspectives on the state of the cyber market and how risk modeling can help insurers get a perspective on the risk.
  • Evgenia Ageeva, Head Cyber Actuarial & Analytics at Swiss Re
Evgenia joined Swiss Re in [2011] in the Credit & Surety Actuarial department before joining the Cyber reinsurance team in 2017. Since then, Evgenia works as Senior Actuary/Cyber Risk Data Scientist at Swiss Re. She is responsible for modelling and pricing cyber affirmative reinsurance covers – both portfolios and single risk. Moreover, she leads the development of the proprietary Exposure & Loss database for cyber risk insurance. Evgenia holds a master’s degree in Mathematics (ETH).
