Summary
RiskON aims to promote risk management in Switzerland through collaboration between students, industry experts and financial institutions. During the two-day hackathon, interdisciplinary teams of enthusiastic young master’s students from all Swiss universities and experts will work on real-life challenges in banking risk management. The goal is to develop concrete solutions, such as proofs of concept (PoC) or minimum viable products (MVP), which can then be further developed in practice. The focus is on current topics such as financial risks, non-financial risks and digital risks.
Bank Julius Baer, ZKB and EFG International are actively involved as lead and team sponsors, providing challenges, while LGT Bank Switzerland and VSKB are involved as ambassador partners. Innosuisse, SIF Innovation Desk and the Swiss Risk Association are also involved as additional marketplace partners.
The winning team’s innovative solutions will receive funding and support to ensure practical implementation. Students will also have the opportunity to co-author articles and white papers with UZH professors, gaining access to cutting-edge research, enhancing academic credentials and thereby allowing for academic transfer.

Joint innovation as the key to success
RiskON is an excellent opportunity to get closer to the banks’ common goal of ensuring a stable and resilient financial center and to bring their use cases and challenges into an ideation and innovation process. The potential of the Master’s and Executive students at Universities in Switzerland and beyond will thus be supported and promoted. It can also create initial contacts between the banks and interested students and increase the attractiveness of the topic of risk management among students.
