Summary
As the world is grappling with multiple new risks, ranging from pandemics and increased geopolitical tensions to energy shortage and climate change, performing adequate scenario analysis and stress testing is more important than ever to understand risks and define an acceptable risk appetite.
For Switzerland as a country, the Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP = Bundesamt für Bevölkerungsschutz BABS) maintains an inventory of the main disaster risks that Switzerland is exposed to as a country. We are very pleased that Stefan Brem, Chief Risk Officer and Head of Risk Analysis and Research Coordination at the FOCP, will present to us the analysis that the FOCP performs to identify the main disaster risks that Switzerland faces, as well as how these risks are measured.
His presentation will be followed by a discussion on how the analysis by the FOCP could benefit financial institutions for their own internal stress testing and scenario analysis.
