CRO Circle Dinner Romandie: Digital Assets

Summary

Digital Assets, including cryptocurrencies, are increasingly becoming an established reality and Chief Risk Officers need to be equipped with a solid understanding of the threats and opportunities.

High demands from Private Clients have already led several financial institutions to add Digital Assets as part of overall asset classes dimensions and include within investment strategies. Such financial institutions may already provide to their clients the opportunity to custodise and trade Digital Assets in a safe and secure manner. Others are leveraging the building blocks, distributed ledgers, for solutions to support trade finance or to provide tokenization of assets as a cheaper alternative to exchange-traded-funds. More widely, a growing population of existing and potential customers are direct-invested in Digital Asset firms or cryptocurrencies, challenging traditional perspectives on satisfactory source of wealth / source of funds.

This event will explore the risks, and indeed the opportunities, presented by Digital Assets, enabling CROs to establish necessary frameworks or simply be better positioned to ask the right questions when presented with new products, business initiatives or customers with personal or industry exposures.

Keynote

• Francesco Mochi Sismondi
  Francesco has a 20+ year career as a Risk Management executive serving several global Banks and Crypto Asset Providers, with expertise in the domain of Operational and Enterprise Risk, implementing risk frameworks, governance, internal control and transformational programs operating across European and Asian markets and jurisdictions. Francesco has recently founded an educational and advisory platform, Not Your Money, to support individuals and institutions helping them demystify and embrace digital assets with security and confidence
• Charles-Henry Monchau is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Bank Syz
  He joined the firm in early 2021 from a Swiss Digital bank where he was CIO and Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to this, he had been CIO of Al Mal Capital (Dubai Investments), Head of the Asset Allocation Team for the EMEA region at Deutsche Bank and held various C-level positions in Geneva, Zurich, Dubai, Nassau and Paris. He has an Executive MBA from IE Business School and an MSc in Finance from HEC Geneva. He is also a CFA, CMT, CAIA and CIIA charter holder.

Swiss Risk Association in Romandie

The Swiss Risk Association (SRA) is a non-profit organisation and open forum for risk management. Through events, discussions and knowledge transfer, the SRA strengthens Switzerland’s position as a financial competence centre.

The Swiss Risk Association was created 10 years ago and was mainly covering the Swiss German Part of Switzerland. In order to expand our organization within the French part of Switzerland, we created a new Chapter “Romandie”, which was successfully launched last year. As part of the development in the Romandie, we are excited to bring an unforgettable evening and exclusive networking opportunities at the CRO Circle Dinner. This new event format has been a great success in Zurich and therefore, we are excited to have one of such prestigious event in “Romandie”.

The goals of the Romandie Chapter are to develop the exchange of knowhow and networking opportunities via the organization of Chapter Event covering various Risk topics, in the areas of Private banking, asset management and commodities trading etc.
