Summary
The last few years or even months have seen climate risk considerations gain strong momentum within the financial industry. With policymakers increasingly focusing on combatting climate change, investors adjusting their preferences and a potentially “hot world” looming, the first regulators have already rolled out their initial exploratory stress testing exercises. Stress testing as a tool for assessing climate change related risks to the financial system, be they transitional or physical in nature, appears particularly suited; it allows us to analyze the effects of scenarios outside of historical experience while at the same time being already well familiar to the financial community. In this chapter event, we are going to discuss aspects of climate scenario analysis from the banks and insurers perspectives.
